No Fallout With Funke Akindele – Kamo State

Popular Nigerian skitmaker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has dismissed rumours of a rift between him and filmmaker Funke Akindele.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba, he explained that their reduced public appearances are due to their busy schedules, not a fallout.

Kamo State described Funke as a role model and revealed that they remain close. He recalled how their bond grew after she showed concern when he lost the key to a handcuff on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa.

He also credited her for believing in his talent, which led to collaborations on productions like Ayetoro and Behind the Scene.

He said:
"We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn't give her a chance. I am also not the same as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also always be called to work on projects."

"There is no fight; don't let people paint what doesn't exist."

"Before I met her, she had been like a role model to me; I love her very much. The first time I saw her in person was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa."

"I lost the key to the handcuff we used on set so she showed concern about the incident. Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy."
