Nollywood actresses, Chika Ike and Lizzy Anjorin have been announced winners of this year's Young Achievers' Awards held on Sunday, October, 14, 2012. The event was held at the Balmoral Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.
While Chika Ike was named as the Best Actress (English), Lizzy Anjorin was named the Best Actress (Yoruba) by the organisers of the awards.
According to Ibrahim Adeduntan, who is the CEO of the awards, he said, "aside Chika being one of the most sought after actresses in the country, she is a great achiever and whose love for the downtrodden especially little children in the society was among the reasons we chose her and if she continues with the pace she could still win the award next year."
An elated Lizzy Anjorin, who was gaily dressed in a black gown, dedicated her award to her late parents. She said, "as the only child, I wish they were alive to share in the joy of a beautiful moment such as this with me.
"This award also goes to all my numerous fans from far and near who voted for me. To say that I am overwhelmed is to state the obvious. I have laboured very hard in my career as an actress and I am glad that some people out there appreciate what I do."
