
Alhaji Yekini Adeojo,one of Ibadan's top politician has finally opened up on the issue of one Sodiq Adeojo who was recently sentenced in the U.K in connection with the death of young Sylvester Akapalara.
Sodiq Adeojo was alleged to have been Chief Adeojo's son but the well respected politician has since cleared the air on the issue in a telephone chat.
He said; I don't have any child called Sodiq.Besides,Adeojo is a family name and there could be many Adeojos.
I have said it over and over again that,the boy is not my son.
My children in the United Kingdom(U.K) are Ganiyat Awe nee Adeojo and Mr. Sherif Adeojo.They are both happily married and they are doing fine.My younger son,Moshood Adeojo is here in Nigeria.He's a student of Igbinedion University,Okada,Edo State.
There is no way I would have denied him if he's my son.
Sodiq Adeojo,20 years old was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his involvement in the murder of 17 year-old Sylvester Akapalara on December 29,2010.
Sylvester Akapalara,17,was found dying in the stairwell of the Pelican Estate,in Peckham,South-East London,in December 2010.
He had been chased by a gang brandishing knives and a gun before being shot in the neck and chest,the Old Bailey read.
Sodiq Adeojo,20,of Peckham,was found guilty in December last year of murder,two counts of attempted murder and having weapons.
He was however sentenced to detention for life with a minimum term of 30 years.
According to Judge Timothy Pontius,Sylvester was in the wrong place at the wrong time.He said further that Sylvester was a promising young athlete of remarkable ability.
Sodiq Adeojo was also given concurrent 22-year sentences for attempted murder and 14 years for having gun.Three other teenagers were cleared and a fifth faces a retrial.
