The family of a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho East, Hon Steve Senu Akorli has paid a courtesy call on the Speaker to inform him and Parliament about the death and funeral of the late MP.
The late Hon Akorli was MP for Ho East from 1993- 2004 when he voluntarily retired.
He served as a Minister of State during the Rawlings regime.
The Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Michael Oquaye described the deceased as someone who was very enthusiastic and inquisitive, always asking questions.
Ghana's longest serving MP and current Second Deputy Speaker, Hon Alban Bagbin who worked closely with the late Akorli said he is a freest lost to Parliament and Ghana.
Mr Bagbin disclosed that the late Hon Steve Akorli was chairman of the Technical Committee of the Parliamentary Service that restructured the job 600 building that is currently serving as offices for MPs.
The late Hon Steve Akorli was taken ill on 26th April and admitted at the Volta Regional Hospital in Ho but was later airlifted to the Korle By Teaching Hospital where died.
He will be buried on May 25, 2019 at his hometown of Adakpu Kpetsu after a church service at the Global Evangelical Church, East Legon on the May 24.
The deceased was also a member of the Parliamentary Service Board.
The deceased, Akorli 70 was born on October 12, 1948 and survived with a wife Judith Victoria Akorli and six children.
