…and Western Togoland Has Been Invaded By Neighboring Ghana Again!

For how long would the world remained indifferent to the plight of historically oppressed people of Western Togoland by Ghana with the use of organized concentrated force of the State?

“We hold these truths to be self-evidence: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.” Thomas Jefferson.

On May 5^th, 2019, the joint forces of Ghana police and armed forces, armed to the teeth, invaded Ho, the peaceful Empire State of Volta Region in the Western Togoland, arrested 8 unarmed Citizens of Western Togoland including Charles Kormi Kudzodzi popularly known as papavi Hogbedetor, the history heavyweight champion, whose match cannot be found in the neighboring Ghana.

Without warrant of arrest from any competent Court of jurisdiction, the innocent Citizens of the historically oppressed, Western Togoland were bamboozled into Ghana’s Helicopter and were flown to Ghana.

The presence of the armed police and Military men from Ghana terrified the women and children who witnessed the gloss exhibition of unprofessionalism by the inferior security forces of Ghana, and as at now, these women and children are still leaving in fear.

This is not the first time Ghana is harassing Citizens of Western Togoland by unlawfully arresting and detaining their leaders. This kind of disrespect for fellow human beings has been going on for quite some time now.

It is about time the world and all peace-loving nations and the Africa Union advice Ghana to put an end to this unacceptable behavior. Bearing in mind that when you press people to extreme, they become what you cannot imagine.

The recent aggression and continue coercion of the people of Western Togoland was ignited by mere assertion that the victims “aimed at seceding from Ghana to declare an independent country called Western Togoland.”

We also know that the jungle style of arrest, harassment, the use of armed men and Helicopter are all aimed at deterring us from the independence struggle. Unfortunately, Ghana got it wrong. Nothing can deter us from doing the honorable thing for our land and ourselves. We are the true reflection of history and we have every right to harmonize the motherland.

We have what it takes to raise equal standard to our aggressor, but we choose the path of non-violence.

We have in many times extended our friendly hands to the various governments of Ghana to come to the negotiation table, but they have ignored us many times because they thought they can intimidate us to give up. We are more than a willing soul and giving up is absolutely impossible. Till independence is achieved, we know no retreat, no surrender.

To my fellow Togolanders who are yet to join the Struggle, I want to encourage you that Western Togoland is a legitimate issue, and nothing should deter you from given your best for the land on which your blood and that of your forefather’s sunk on. It is your God given land and you cannot do yourself the dishonor by letting someone take it away from you.

Though we are perplexed; we are not forsaking by our God. Though we have been reduced to a nation of minority; we are not abandoned by our God. Though we have been marginalized; we have not been forgotten by our God. Nothing can imperil our future than to fervently subdue ourselves to the neo-colonization by our equals.
