The Assembly Member of the Kwaman Electoral Area, Osei Kwabena Bosomuru Ababio, is asking the security agencies to tighten their monitoring mechanisms in the Afigya Kwabere North District.
Residents in the various communities are living in constant fear over the high incidents of robbery cases within the last few months.
Lives and properties have constantly been terrorized and ceased by gangs of thieves and armed robbers in the communities within the district.
Our Ashanti Regional Correspondent Akwasi Brobbey who visited the area leant that there has been more than six robbery cases within this month.
Residents in the community lamented that the armed robbers engage in the nefarious activities along the road which links the Kwaman community to other communities such as Tetrem, Kyekyewere, Kwamang, Aboabogya, Ahenkro and Boamang in the Afigya Kwabere North District.
According to some drivers who ply that road, the armed robbery incidents have forced activities to close by 6pm to avoid being attacked.
This has become very disturbing for women in labor who are sometimes forced to go through heartbreaking conditions in order to reach the health facility for delivery.
The Assembly Member indicated that the lack of police visibility in the area is as a result of the poor road network which makes it difficult for the police in the nearby town to quickly come to their rescue.
"I am always worried as the number of armed robbery cases keeps on increasing in my area. The entire community is in the grip of fear." he emphasized.
Osei Kwabena Bosomuru Ababio is appealing to the District Chief Executive of the area, Hon. Karikari Acheamfour to provide them with a police protection in the area particularly the road that links Kwaman to Boamang.
