Angry Ashongman Residents Want Roads Fixed

Angry residents of Ashongman, a town in the Ga East Municipality, have called on governments to fix bad roads that make vehicular movement a daily ordeal.

The residents and drivers say the onset of the Harmattan has worsened their frustration when travelling on the road.

They added that during the rainy season, gaping holes on the roads gather water and make the roads unmotorable.

"We suffer a lot [on] this road; when the dust rises…it blocks our visibility and sometimes [the poor visibility] causes accidents…

"We can no longer tolerate the dust that fills our homes and no one can stay in this neighbourhood because of the dust that surrounds us,” said Henaku, a taxi driver and a resident of the area.

Many residents also criticise the Municipal Assembly for not fixing the road although the problem has persisted for many years.
