Over the last forty-five years, the number of people migrating from their countries to live overseas has increased from an estimated 75 million in 1960 to 231 million in 2013, and of this, 18.6 million are from Africa, according to the United Nations.

The serious Africans in the Diaspora play a significant role in the economic development of their countries where they originate. Apart from the money they remit, those overseas are capable of promoting trade, create business and transfer new knowledge and skills.

Since the Ghanaian government depends on the strength of its citizens abroad towards the development of the country, certainly, it should have been the priority for the government to remove obstacles and create opportunities for Diasporas to engage in economic development.

Unfortunately, the Ghanaian government is deeply corrupt that its impact has affected both developments at home and Ghanaians in the Diaspora running a business in the country, putting a halt to new investors that want to set up businesses in Africa.

The lack of knowledge of the Ghanaian government to create effective taxation system and chronic corruption have seriously affected Ghana and the present government in power thinks raising the prices of commodities will help the economy but that has rather depreciate the Ghanaian currency.

Imports and exports businesses are on the brink of collapse because of high duties at the Ghana Ports Authority. This has already changed the mind of many Ghanaians in the Diaspora to thinks less about development in the country or setting up any business.

Since the Ghanaian government and politicians are corrupt the incurable disease has spread to all the institutions in Ghana, including the judiciary system. Ghana is a lawless state because the law system is deeply corrupt, thus, government officials commit fraudulent crimes with impunity.

This carefree corruption with impunity has encouraged fraud and land crimes in the country. Traditional chiefs have appointed rogues and thieves to sell one plot to more unsuspecting buyers in Ghana, thus; some Ghanaians in the Diaspora have been victims to land frauds in Ghana.

Land frauds have been going on for a very long time, yet the Ghanaian government doesn’t care to do anything about it. Many Africans in the Diaspora who have fallen victims to land frauds with cases in court never win because the entire judiciary system is corrupt from the bone to the flesh. Litigation doesn't work in Ghana.

It will be recalled that on May 10, 2018, I published “[MG] Who Is The Minister For Lands And Natural ... - Modern Ghana," [MG] https://www.modernghana.com/news/852958/who-is-the-minister-for-lands-and-natural-resources-in-ghana.html , after losing 10,000 Euros I brought to Ghana to set up a small business because the chief I bought the land from has already sold it to someone else.

They are aware that Ghana is a lawless state with a corrupt judiciary system, therefore, as chiefs, they will not face the law. Since I published my story, I have received many e-mails from some Ghanaians in the Diaspora congratulating me over that article.

In fact, that publication has changed the mind of many Ghanaians who have good intentions to settle at home and do something better for the country. Who is happy after working very hard in this severe cold winter in Europe to lose 10,000 Euros in Ghana because it’s a lawless corrupt country?

In another development, the recent collapse of the banking institutions in Ghana has put more fear in Ghanaians in the Diaspora to acknowledge the fact that Ghana is a hopeless country to depend on for the business purpose.

In fact, the bitter economic experience Ghanaians are going through at the moment is just the tip of the iceberg; Ghana will sink faster and deeper than the Titanic because both the judiciary system and politicians are corrupt.
