I write with much regret to retract an article written by my good self that was published on the 26th of February, 2018 with the heading: KK Sapong and Isaac Osei cautioned over looming scandal published on Modernghana.com and Awakeafrica.com
I wrote the story after listening to a radio program in Kumasi without doing the professional duty of according Mr K K Sarpong and Isaac Osei, heads of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and Tema Oil Refinery respectively the opportunity to give their side of the story.
In view of the fact that the story had the potency of doing injury to their name, it was incumbent on me as a professional to accord them the opportunity to respond before publishing.
In recognition of this, I am retracting the article and further rendering an unqualified apology to the persons of Mr KK Sarpong and Isaac Osei and all the people they matter to.
I am retracting and apologising because it was a one sided story and therefore fails the test of ethical journalism.
To further undo the injuries, the main story has been removed totally from the two sites to ensure that it is not a document for future reference.
As a journalist with over 10 years of experience, I have always abided strictly by the ethics of the job and therefore feel I moved from my standards to do a hasty job. I didn’t persist enough in my effort to get the side of the story of Mr Sarpong and Mr Osei.
In view of this, I am retracting the rendering an unqualified apology on behalf of my good self and of Modernghana and Awake Africa to Mr Isaac Osei and Dr K K Sarpong.
I hope this repairs the damage done
Isaac Kyei Andoh
