Living The NPP Dream In The Diaspora – Rev Alex Acheampong

I cannot hide my elation but to trigger my jubilant mood to celebrate a man, who has and is still making incredible contribution to building a prosperous Ghana even whiles living in the diaspora. Permit me to highlight some of the noteworthy influences of Rev Alex Acheampong, one of the chivalrous patriots and the National Chairman of the NPP, Germany Branch who has made tremendous contributions towards the advancement of the principles and ideologies of the New Patriotic Party in the diaspora.

Since his assumption of office as the National Chairman of the NPP Germany Branch, Rev Alex through his coherent mobilization skills and excellent human relations has made very significant input to the party. He has tremendously played several intermediary roles in ensuring that the Branch continuous to be one of the most functional and effective international branch of the New Patriotic Party. He has been one of the most vociferous leaders of the party in the diaspora who consistently adds his voice to any discourse meant to seek the welfare of Ghanaians in the diaspora irrespective of their political affiliation. Rev Alex is a trustworthy gentleman and an outstanding role model which is very evident in his stands for the truth irrespective of the price he may have to pay.

Rev Alex together with his able executives, played a very instrumental role in the New Patriotic Party’s historic victory in the 2016 general elections in several ways. Under his chairmanship, the Germany Branch of the party was able to mobilize over €100,000.00 to support the NPP’s 2016 electioneering campaign. Again, Rev Alex and some of his executives flown from Germany to Ghana on their own account to join the NPP 2016 Campaign Team to support the party to rustle power from the wasteful NDC government. The branch as part of their campaign support strategy, adopted and financially supported 10 constituenciesin Ghana including; Ejura Sekyere Domasi, Techiman North and South, Salaga South, Nanton, Ledzekuku, Fantiakwa, Cape Coast North and Lower West Akim constituency; out of which the party won 9 parliamentary seats for the NPP.

Moreover, one of his praiseworthy works as National Chairman of NPP Germany which deserves applause is the tireless work him together with his outstanding executives did by pointing out the needs of Ghanaians in Germany in a detailed proposal. This proposal was presented to the President during his first 100 days, calling for his immediate intervention in some pertinent matters that has been militating against Ghanaians in Germany irrespective of their political or socio-cultural affiliation. The proposal was hugely and swiftly responded to by the President and has been duly considered to better the lives of Ghanaians in the Diaspora.

Additionally, prior to the 2016 general election, Rev Alex being a Reverend Pastor with Divine insight to read the times, organized an International Prayer Conference in Germany for the then NPP Presidential candidate, H.E. Nana Akuffo-Addo to seek the face of the Almighty God to affirm the fore-ordained victory of the NPP in the 2016 general election. The Prayer Conference was an Assembly of galaxy of Pastors and Prophets in Europe, America and Africa who believed in the vision of H.E. Nana Addo Darkwa Akuffo-Addo and the prosperity of the good people of Ghana.

Again, Rev Alex together with the Chairmen of the other NPP branches in America and Europe collectively expressed their disapproval and vehemently opposed the Article 3 (c) {iii} a) of the “Constitutional Amendment Proposal” which was intended to “relegate members of the NPP in the diaspora to the background by seeking to prevent them from contesting any executive position in the mother party” despite their invaluable contribution to the NPP since the formation of the party. The Rejected proposal if adopted according to Rev. Alex, would have been a great indictment to NPP’s commitment to implement the Representation of People’s Amendment Law (ROPAL) which seeks to allow Ghanaians across the world to exercise their democratic right in the election of political leaders in Ghana. Rev Alex on behalf of the members of NPP Germany plainly stated his position by openly opposing the rejected killer proposal.

Indeed, Rev Alex Acheampong has made an indelible mark in the history of NPP in the Diaspora. His modesty and big-heartedness has brought NPP Germany branch to an imaginable height. Under his watch, the Branch has been able to established new sub-branches including Darmstadt, Hannover, Freiburg, Nurnberg, Essen, Koblenz and Karlsruhe Chapter. These chapters together with the other chapters massively contributed financially to support the party in the 2016 general election.

It is of no wonder that the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo decided to visit Germany on his first International 'Thank you Tour’, due to the notable contribution of NPP Germany Branch coupled with the admirable relationship Rev Alex Acheampong, National Chairman of the NPP Germany has established with the big wigs of the New Patriotic Party, most especially the President. It is my fervent hope that he will continue to avail himself to offer such tremendous services to Ghanaians in the Diaspora as the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Germany Branch.

The glorious leadership accolades of Rev Alex Acheampong, chairman of NPP Germany deserve to be celebrated. It is my Prayer and that of Ghanaians in the Diaspora that the Almighty God, who has richly prospered you and ordered your steps this past half century, will continue to bless you with good health and lead you to be able to fulfill all your dreams and aspirations for the NPP Germany Branch and mother Ghana in the many more years of worthy service ahead of you.
