Premature Contentment Is like Premature Ejaculation!

Once, on a very bright Friday at a meeting, a very powerful and striking message was preached by my father, God's Servant Joseph Asikoyaaba relating to premature contentment as exhibited by many Christians all over the world. He made us understand how we as Christians always settle for mediocrity rather the ultimate, the perfect will of God for our lives. Many of us limit ourselves, we don't utilize our full potentials and we are scared of processing our ideas and making them bigger, better to affect society. He made us understand that, most Christians today due to laxity have very funny excuses to make when it comes to working hard to achieve success. Some of such lazy utterances are, "Oh as for me, I want to get married, get a car, a bicycle and if God permits, I will build my own house", " As for me, I want to finish university, work for a company for five years, gather some money and start a good life" or worst cases, you hear, "As for me, after school, I want to travel abroad to seek greener pastures and then come back to settle down".

If you read these statements carefully, you will see the logical imbalance in them and you will come to accept that all these guys have no vision at all as Christians but these are wishful thoughts and probabilities. I was so touched by the message that after the meeting, myself and a colleague were deliberating more on it. We spoke at length about how we don't take due diligence in various aspects of our lives and in effect we are always at the losing end. But I think I took the discussion to another level when I eventually got to my room. I was comparing premature contentment to premature ejaculation. I have heard of the word premature ejaculation on television most times by our herbal medicine commentators and how embarrassing it is for couples. I tried to google it and find out what exactly it was and I did!

Premature Ejaculation is "uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after sexual penetration. It happens with minimal sexual stimulation and before the person wishes. It may result in unsatisfactory sex for both partners. This can increase the anxiety that may add to the problem" (sourced from Google). From this definition and others which I read, I got the understanding that this is a sexual problem that affects a man such that, he ejaculates(overjoyed, content etc) before or after sex (enjoyment, victory, success etc). This is a problem that is really embarrassing and if you are a man whose is not like Mary, you will never have peace in your marriage ever after.

Well after this discovery, I decided to bring such an idea into life and to be candid, it worked perfectly. In life people who are prematurely content either too early or immediately after attaining success are embarrassed big time. I am a victim! I am that guy who when I have only 5ghc left in my pockets, I am able to manage it for like a week or more but as soon as the seasons and times change for the best, I become so prematurely content and within few days a thousand or two thousand Ghana Cedi is gone, evaporated! I have been stupid all these years by doing so and my father's message on this topic really transformed me.

We live in a world where as soon as someone gets the opportunity to be a leader, to be promoted to a higher rank, to start a business or company among other things, we become so content and so full of ourselves that we try to show off, we try to push away people because we are better now than they are, we step on many toes and eventually, we become so proud of ourselves. But that's pathetic. Every success you chalk now is just the basis of where God wants to take you to. God has a bigger picture for your life and not just that little success. Why cleave on to the skeleton of your dreams when the full corpus is yet to be done. A lot of us are prematurely ejaculating when we haven't really aroused the feelings of our "bride" or "lady" (destiny) to the climax. We celebrate at the wrong time!

I have seen SRC Presidents who were intelligent, soft spoken and full of vigor but when they eventually win elections and they get into office they lose their integrity and plunge into various vile activities. After eight months of leadership, they are walking on the streets of Tulaku, Zongo laka or Okponglo as useless as anybody. SRC President? So you lead over thousand students, met with various cooperate individuals yet no networking for a higher calling? What a shame!

There are also people who start companies, some begin with various great ideas and as soon as those ideas begin to blossom and taking shape, they begin to show off and even at a point they are so lazy that they procrastinate every good opportunity that God brings their way. One of the areas where this canker has eaten deep into their fabrics is the entertainment sector. Let me tell you why I think so.

Let's take for example a young musician called Kwame and an actress named Yala. Kwame grew up in Atadeka whiles Yala also grows up in chireponi. Kwame started as an underground artist with a few area friends who keep encouraging him and even linking him for mini programs. Little by little, slowly but surely, he does his first mix tape through the help of his boys and by God's grace, he makes a hit. He gets a manager and within the twinkling off an an eye, he gets the limelight. Now Kwame says he is rebranding so he wants to be called "Kaykpa". By the time kaykpas friends will know it, he is gone out of Atadeka, he is now at East legon or Regimanuel estates, he has a fleet of cars, a fat bank account, some confused bodyguards and fine looking guys and girls as his new friends. He has forgotten about the old ones who have been there through it all. He doesn't know them.

Yala also miraculously moves from her village in Chireponi by grace and she now stars in various award winning movies so even her parents can't come around her because she wants to protect her brand and public image. Premature Ejaculation!

No wonder that with such people, they fold up quickly and are forgotten quickly from the scenes because their characters or attitudes could not sustain the anointing or talent deposited in them by God. The devil has given them the apple of destruction to eat and they gladly accepted it and took a big bite. Just like Judas Iscariot sold Jesus Christ, our Lord and personal saviour for some few coins, these people who get contented prematurely sell their dreams, talents, goals and success cheaply to the devil and they come back not to square one but rather square nothing. If you look around, you will notice that there were many great names on our screens, very popular but today, some are sick, hospitalized, useless and struggling. They ejaculated prematurely and now embarrassment is their reward!

In order to prevent being contented prematurely, you need to know a few things that will help you. First of all, you must comprehend that whatever gift or talent you have is from God. It can be gone anything and you cannot do anything about it. Always thank God for your talent.

Secondly, always ask yourself, which people advice me on tough issues? Are their advises really good? Make sure you keep your old friends closer because they know you better and are always ready to protect you. As for those new nincompoops who emerge from nowhere will only come and enjoy the money without sense. Be careful!

Thirdly, never disrespect or talk to your parents or the elderly in bad manners. No matter how popular or renowned you are, how wealthy you are or anywhere, you must be calm, meek and respectful. Show gratitude always, give to the poor and needy always and above speak sensibly while addressing every issue.

Fourthly, stop spending money on material things. You won't take them anywhere when you die. if you love cars, start a car business, if you love chicken or meat start a farm or ranch, whatever it is you love spending money on, be wise and turn it into a business. You will make more money. Be an investor not a consumer!

Finally, get married to a God fearing and sensible woman who will support your vision to the max. As for the slay queens and the "Ashawo's", they will keep increasing but they will drain you if you are not careful. Get married quickly, reason with your wife and plan a better life for the future. That's how to live and love life.
