Police in Obuasi say they are investigating the possibility that the alleged foetus found near the Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) was buried by someone from outside the school community.
The Obuasi Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Mahama Iddrisu, said the location where the alleged foetus was reportedly buried is considerably far from the school, making it possible that an outsider could have carried out the act.
He said although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, the police are pursuing various leads to establish what actually happened.
Chief Superintendent Iddrisu disclosed that farmers who work around the area where the alleged foetus was discovered have been questioned as part of efforts to identify anyone who may have knowledge of the incident.
He made the disclosure when chiefs from the Adanse Traditional Area visited the location to pour libation.
The Police Commander also clarified that investigations into the alleged sexual misconduct scandal involving the headmaster of Obuasi SHTS are being conducted at the regional level.
However, he said the local police command is handling investigations into the alleged assault and destruction of property involving students.
Chief Superintendent Iddrisu urged the public to remain calm and allow the police to complete their investigations, stressing that the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident must be established through evidence.
