The National Chairman of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has called for policy consistency under the party's governments.

He argues such a move is critical to attracting investment and ensuring long-term national development.

The veteran politician said Ghana would benefit if successive administrations had maintained key elements of existing policies rather than abandoning them whenever political power changed hands.

Asiedu Nketia made the remarks on Wednesday, October 28, at the 2026 LAB Policy Colloquium, organised to review the performance of the Mahama-led government.

“The NDC will do better if it is able to maintain policy consistency. The nation will be better off if successive governments consistently maintain key elements of policy. That is the way to attract investment,” he said.

He explained that policy continuity would give investors greater confidence to commit resources to projects that require long-term planning and may extend beyond the tenure of a single government.

The NDC chairman also urged LAB, a policy think tank, to strengthen its collaboration with the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) to ensure its work contributes to Ghana’s long-term development plans.

Asiedu Nketia commended LAB for sustaining its policy work since its beginnings as a group that contributed to drafting the NDC’s 2020 manifesto.

He recalled that following the party’s defeat in the 2020 general elections, the group was encouraged to continue operating as a think tank capable of helping shape policy, whether the NDC was in government or opposition.

He also praised the group for contributing to the party’s 2024 manifesto and continuing to monitor the implementation of the policies it helped develop.

“I think that you should continue with this work and let there be some collaboration between LAB and the National Development Planning Commission, so that your work will also feed into the long-term development plans of this country,” he said.
