E/R: Grand Durbar Held To Introduce Newly Installed Ankobea In Okere

A colourful ceremony has been held at Aseseeso in Akuapim North Municipality in the Okere Constituency of the Eastern region where the newly-installed Ankobea of the town was introduced to the people.

Mrs. Vida Duoduwaa Boateng Oteng Installed with the stool name, Ankobea Duoduwaa Ampem I, is also a graduate from University of Education Winneba (UCEW).

In a statement during the ceremony she used the occasion to encourage women to seek education especially for the Girl Child.

According to her, educating the girl child will go a long way to help address many challenges in society and also reduce poverty.

“I urge everyone especially the girl child and women to seek education. We must take the education of the girl child seriously” she said, adding that “we shall be perpetuating, poverty, ignorance and disease if the trainers of generations of Ghanaians remain uneducated”.

She also promised to campaign vigorously to deal with teen sex and teenage pregnancy which has been a major challenge in the Eastern region.

"We are going to embark on the training of more young people for reproductive health advocacy," she stressed.
