Peace Festival will come off on August 23-September 4 - Musama Disco Christo Church

Accra Aug. 14, GNA - The Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) has called on its members and the public that the mission's official Peace Festival will come off as scheduled from August 23- September 4, at Mozano in the Central Region.

Addressing a news conference in Accra, Reverend Isaac Kwesi Bagyinah, the General Secretary of the MDCC claimed that the Church has had information that Prophet Miritaiah Jehu-Appiah, the deposed Akaboha (leader) who has formed Musama Church International and his henchmen are frantically preparing to celebrate their version of the Peace Festival at Mozano, the Headquarters of the Church.

'We would like to remind them that this action will be contemptuous of the Supreme Court and also lead to possible disturbances. We shall take every legally acceptable step to resist any attempts by the sacrilege to our solemn worship.

'We take this opportunity to further remind Prophet Miritaiah and his dissident group to respect the verdict of the Supreme Court and to submit themselves to the leadership of the Church as presently constituted if they want to remain in the Church,' he said.

Rev Bagyinah said the celebration of the Peace Festival by Prophet Miritaiah and his dissident group in the Mozano town had been banned by the Gomoa West District Security Committee, as it would cause a serious breach of the peace in the area, in a letter dated July 13.

He said the letter advised that Prophet Miritaitah and his group could celebrate their festival anywhere within the Gomoa West District, but not at Mozano township.

He said another letter dated August 8, by the Gomoa West District Security Committee re-affirmed its earlier decision on July 13.

He said a ruling by the Supreme Court on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 constituted by Justices Atuguba, Adinyira, Gbadegba, Benin and Akamba unanimously quashed the appeal filed by Prophet Miritaiah, against his removal as Akaboha III and Head Prophet of the MDCC.

He said on June 16 2016, the Supreme Court struck out the case in which Prophet Miritaitah was seeking a review of the judgement upholding his removal.

He said the judgement perpetually restrained the Prophet from holding himself out as the Head of the Church or exercise any spiritual or temporal faculties incidental or ancillary to the office.

Prophet Miritaitah was the leader of the MDCC until 2002 when he was removed by the Church and challenged his removal in court.

'Meanwhile the church will soon roll out programmes and convene series of meetings of all prophets, pastors, priests, church leaders and other relevant identifiable groups and societies… to discuss the welfare and forward march… and its membership,' he said.

Mr Bonahopas Arkhurst, a National Executive Committee Member of MDCC, expressed optimism that the security agencies would step in to carry out their mandate to ensure peace.
