Bouygues Construction Ghana Limited as part of their World Safety Day celebrations has held a safety day demonstration workshop at the Company’s main office in Labone, Accra.
Speaking to Bouygues staff, subcontractors, suppliers, partners and clients present at the opening of the workshop, the Managing Director of Bouygues Ghana, Jerome Mulot stated that as a world leading Construction Company, Bouygues is determined to remain a leader in safety at construction sites and reach the target of “zero” accidents.
He indicated that Bouygues have over 55,000 employees, based in more than 80 countries across 5 continents but for the significance of marking the day of safety at construction sites and especially what it means to Bouygues, all these workers stopped construction activities to focus on safety as the day suggests... “what a strong signal, it is just phenomenal: 55,000 people who are dropping their tools to focus on what must be our priority: SAFETY”.
Mr. Lumot indicated further that, the only way they measure the success of a project done by Bouygues is by having done a good job where the client is satisfied, met the deadline for handover and of course achieved expected profit but above all Bouygues is particular and concerned about safety and it’s key because there’s no pride to be found in delivering a project ahead of schedule if there has been accidents when in fact it’s better to be late than sorry.
Again, Mr. Jerome admonished that it is the duty and obligation of all to put safety as number one priority… “the first consideration of any decision we take must be the safety and well-being of our people and our partners such that everybody is able to go home safely every day to their families and loved ones.”
Safety must not be considered as a burden. It should rather be considered as a way to protect life in a collective meaningful way so that in the end your life and your colleague’s life is protected, he added.
