There is a saying that says. “If everyone knew why they came on earth 90% of the bad things that happen on planet earth would not be a reality” Today’s world has now been characterised by people who are failing to identify their purpose and this has resulted in people entering in a wrong journey of life and leading to a wrong destination.

It is not what you know that kills you, but what you do not know. By not knowing our purpose in life you can be living in ignorance because whatever you might be doing right now might be not your purpose. People have pursued educational careers and dropping completely their God given talents which is the highest form of ignorance. Going into the bible it’s was Daniel’s ability to interpret dreams that opened doors for him, lead him to dine with kings and also created opportunities for his friends too.

Today as you read this you are going to go through a journey of self-discovery, the moment you start reading these points your journey to self-discovery has already started.

The Journey
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

By reading this today you are on a journey of self-discovery hopefully you discover your purpose today! No matter your age today you can discover your purpose. Never give up on identifying your purpose die a happy death such Paul who completed his purpose and knew he completed a good fight of faith. Fight your own fight and start by discovering your purpose today.

Many of us have imaged a pleasant destination for our lives, but have neglected the journey to discover your own purpose.

Purpose can be identified in three ways:

1. Through your passion. Do you know you passion?
2. Your strengths and weakness. Have you ever taken the time to notice these?
3. Your interests and hobbies. Have you ever thought of them as tools that can help you identify our purpose?

After these three points take time to think about your current situation and asses it ask yourself the questions above and if your answer to the questions is NO then your journey of identifying your purpose has begun.

1. Know your passion

Make your passion your profession. – Unknown

As you begin this journey of self-discovery try and come up with a name of any successful person you know and ask yourself this question why are they successful. Successful people always follow their passion and make it their profession. This is why you see that the world has different professions from entrepreneurs, musicians, doctors, musicians, footballers, drivers, solders, central intelligence officers and many more. Never tell yourself you cannot fit in because there is a profession for what you are passionate about always ask the right people who will help you identify your passion.

Someone might be asking themselves what exactly passion is, let me give a detailed definition of passion.

Passion: can be a very strong feeling of liking or a hobby, an activity that you love very much for example l might say am passionate about helping you identify your purpose this is usually done by motivational speakers this leading me to embrace the motivational speaking title. I have already made my passion my profession that why today you are reading this article. By just reading this definition and example you now have a clear picture of what passion is and how you can identify you purpose through passion and how passion can lead you to you profession hopefully this will help you identify your purpose.

2. Know your strengths and weaknesses

Many at times people have ignored their areas of strength and weakness. Strengths and weakness these mainly deal with your personality and character. Today as you are discovering yourself you might need to know these things. I want you right now take a piece of paper and divide the paper into two equal parts then to your left write your strengths and to the right side write your weaknesses.

To those that do not know the definitions of the words strength is a quality or ability that you as an individual that gives you an advantage and weakness is something that you might not good in or weak on for example communication, you might be very reluctant sharing any ideas you have.

For you to complete this exercise an example would be to your left you can write your strengths which include being influential, a giver, good communicator, problem solver, good writer and good listener and to your right side you might have your weaknesses there which include being rude.

After knowing these things you might realise you have good strengths that you might have ignored for so long these then related to passion. Am a passionate about motivating people and l identify a strength of me being influential, l will combine these two and come up with a good new brand of motivational speaking that no one have ever imagined would be birthed from me. Weaknesses can be at times this that stops you from achieving and reaching your purpose at times it always good to face the mountain and work on it, be it bad habits being changed to good things. This also help you identify, purpose for me which is influencing people and will use it for the betterment of my passion. Which is what you can do today?

3. Know your interests

What is it that you are interested in? You might be passionate about music and interested about it but there are other things that you might be interested in that can help you identify purpose. One might be interested in business, entrepreneurship, gardening and computes. Interests can help you identify your purpose too. My mentor Mr Milton Kamwendo is a motivational speaker but is also into business. He was interested in selling and also reading. Through his interest in reading he has come up with a business idea where he buys books at a cheaper price and sells them to us through his bookshops well known as Innov8 bookshops. His bookshops are one of the successful bookshops in Zimbabwe just because of a simple interest in business and reading that has helped Mr Kamwendo be an example to us. So today know your interests and work to develop if interested in business, read books on business, watch videos of successful people in business learn from them come up with your own idea and discover your purpose which is to offer a service or product to the community and the world.

No one is limited to one profession is their life, this is why we have singer such as Akon that are also entrepreneurs, motivational speakers who are also business people, pastors who facilitate workshops on leadership. Never limit yourself to one profession, discover your purpose and pursue.
