Ayakomaso (B/A), April 16, GNA - Pastor Robert Lugushie, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Youth Coordinator of the Deeper Life Bible Church, on Sunday admonished the youth to rely on God for moral development and academic success.
He said without the favour of God it would be impossible for the Christian youth to achieve success and urged them to put their confidence in Him as they studied their books.
Giving a sermon at the closing session of a three-day Easter Retreat of the Youth Division of the church at Ayakomaso, near Nsoatre in the Sunyani West District, Pastor Lugushie said God remained the true source of intelligence for academic and spiritual excellence.
Attended by more than 700 youth drawn from the various districts of the church, the retreat was on the theme: 'Conquering with the Crucified King'.
Pastor Lugushie told the youth that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ had created an opportunity for Christians to overcome failure, poverty, sickness and sin, adding that with absolute trust in God there was no way they could not succeed in life.
He reiterated the need for the youth to remain studious in all endeavours and allow biblical teachings to mould their lives so as to grow to become responsible adults and national asset.
'As Christians, there is no way you can succeed in life if you put your bibles aside and do not observe your daily morning devotions,' Pastor Lugushie said.
He said though the church worked to guarantee the spiritual development of the youth, there was the need for them to also channel their exuberances into productive ventures and shun peers with questionable characters.
'It is very necessary for you as youth to wait on God in prayers, bible study and meditation so that you will be able tap into divine wisdom and apply for your success,' Pastor Lugushie said.
He noted that the torture, pains and mockery Christ went through on the cross would be meaningless if Christians continued to live in sin.
'The ultimate goal of the Christian is to go to heaven,' he said, and admonished the youth and Ghanaians in general to take opportunity of the death of Christ and live lives worthy of emulation to escape Gods judgment and eternal condemnation.
'The Christian walk is a walk of faith and indications and signs of Christ second coming are clear on the wall,' he said.
