The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has sworn-in the newly-elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Abetifi constituency, Bryan Acheampong.
Mr. Acheampong won the Abetifi by-election last Saturday following the demise of the MP for the area, Peter Wiafe Pepera, who died on May 21 at the 37 Military Hospital.
The new MP said he will spend the next couple of months to provide water for over 80 communities in the Abetifi constituency.
He said many of his constituents drink from rivers and streams and is committed to ensuring potable water is extended to all communities ahead of this year’s polls.
According to Mr. Acheampong, the only way he can help develop Abetifi and the Kwahu area is by representing them in parliament.
“People feel that Kwahu is an urban constituency. Abetifi is deprived, end to end only 15 to 20% have access to water and good road,” he said.
“I am in parliament as an advocate to end these things, water, sanitation, roads and employment are the key reasons why I run for this election,” he added.
Mr. Acheampong said real development will come to his people now that they have given him the mandate to represent them in Parliament.
