Accra, May 28, GNA - Family Health Medical School, Ghana's premier private medical school, is offering a revision course for foreign trained medical doctors which would qualify them to practice in the country.
The course would be held at the school's auditorium, opposite the Kofi Annan Peace Keeping Training Centre in Accra.
Professor Yao Kwawukume, the President of Family Health Medical School, said in a statement that the school had been accredited by the Medical and Dental Council to run an access/revision course for foreign trained medical doctors.
He said it was a requirement from the Medical and Dental Council that foreign trained doctors took an exam to qualify to practice in the country.
'The school has been selected to organise a revision course for the foreign trained doctors to complement Government's effort in partnering the private sector to train more doctors for the nation, as stated by President John Dramani Mahama during the matriculation ceremony of Family Health Medical School early this year,' he said.
Admission into the main stream for the 2016/2017 academic year is still in progress.
The revision courses include; Family Nursing, Community Health, Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery and Allied Departments, and Internal Medicine.
The duration of the course is 20 weeks and would commence on the June 9, 2016.
Family Health Medical School is affiliated to the University of Ghana and accredited by the National Accreditation Board.
The school has both Ghanaian and international professors as lecturers and had collaborations with medical schools in America, Europe and Asia.
Prof. Kwawukume said the school had modern facilities such as the Tim Johnson Library Complex with a lot of unique tools for learning, telemedicine facilities, Hall of Anatomy which is one of the biggest in the sub-region for the dissection of cadavers (corpses), and computerised facilities to view different parts of the human body.
The well-equipped labotatories enable the school to undertake Physiology/Biochemistry and Pharmacology/Chemical pathology with ultra modern hostel facilities and environment that is good for learning.
