The Tribe

When I look at Dagbon, many questions comes to mind.

Many times I ask myself, what will happen if Naa Gbewah was to rise up and see what's happening. Many times I ask myself what will happen if Naa Luro and previous Chiefs of Dagbon were to rise up and see what's happening. Because what they will be confronted with is a divided kingdom with tribesmen at each other's neck trying to rip out hearts of each other.

There's a war going on in our Kingdom and if we remain adamant about the current happenings, the youth are those to suffer. We have nowhere to call home and even if we do, there's no place better than home. Two brothers, ABUDU & ANDANI are at each others throats, trying to rip them out.

Just because of worldly titles, we have been forsaken by those who are supposed to guide us, protect and train us and preach unity to us are rather using our future and lives for their own selfish interests.

Should they forget, let's go back to history and remind ourselves who a Dagomba is? What is or who an Abudu or Andani is? This two names that dwell in every household in Dagbon are actually names of two blood brothers born into royalty. Hypocrisy and ignorance is what made them enemies. It's the cause of this whole Dagbon issue that led to the enskinment of Ya Naa Mahama Abudu and the gruesome murder of Ya Naa Yakubu Andani. But what I put before every individual is, what are the benefits of these incidents? Where has it gotten us to? Who is to blame?

We have not benefited from killing each other, destroying properties and many more. We have rather lost exuberant youth in our so called justice seeking. We have only ridicule our tribe and till date has caused our development. We have no right whatsoever to blame the politicians for failing to restore peace in Dagbon for we are the cause of all.

They will only sing the songs you want to hear and all you do is dance to the tune. We have ourselves to blame. We are the cause of all the happenings in Dagbon. What will happen if you greet, hug and play with each other like it use to be? What would happen when you see yourself as a Dagomba and not an ABUDU or ANDANI? I know nothing will happen and you won't loose anything.

So why is it difficult to embrace peace my brothers and sisters. Let the world know, Dagbon is beyond ABUDU-ANDANI. Let's make our LEADERS know its time they smoke the PEACE pipe and forget whatever happened for the good of Dagbon. I, ABDUL-JAWAD TIYUMBA is a Dagomba and I am beyond ABUDU-ANDANI.
