Is The Divide And Rule Symdrones Affecting Nimba County??
28.12.2015 LISTEN

Nimba County located in the northeastern part of Liberia bordering Ivory Coast and Guinea and very rich in some of Liberia’s natural resources with an array of educated sons and daughters cutting from the diasporas into the length and breadth of this Nation whose often help produce presidents as she is known as the second vote rich County within the republic of Liberia.

History has provided that centuries ago the Gio migrated from present-day Guinea and Mali into their current locations in Liberia and Ivory Coast. For many years, the Gio fought with the surrounding peoples and were proud of their fierce, war-like reputation. Along with their Mande-speaking neighbors, the Gio invaded the coastal region, replacing some of the African tribes along the Atlantic coast and pushing back the Kru. After Liberia became a nation in 1847, the new government in Monrovia began pacifying these warring peoples. By the early 1900's, peace had been achieved, and administrative controls had been established.

This County from the time she joined the administrative control of the governance system in the 1900’s then based in Monsterrado County though at the time her conquer areas were heavily inhabited by the Gio and Mande tribes. But, today can boast of six difference tribal groups the Kpelle,Kran,Mandingo,Mano,Gbe and Dorue and Gio and they has and continues to co-exist since they were declared County during the Tubman regime with the Mano and Gio been in the majority as been the two grouping that amalgamate forces in their early war-like reputation.

This vote rich County has provide great intellectuals, whose services to this Nation in various capacities are countless! Yet, She has failure miserably to produce a PRESIDENT for what research has shown that the divide and rule syndromes a scheme designed by various politicians dating as far back as the 1940’s sending seeds of discourse amongst them with the saying especially between the two majority tribes that the Mano are more educated them the Gio! Divide and Rule Syndromes’!

Moreover, the so-called liberation war that was unleash on the Liberian people by some of our major political actors still parading the corridors of power today fingers again has been pointed to the Gio tribe with the perception that they were the ones deeply entrenched in the civic upheavals as foot soldiers of the then rebel leader later elected as President Major Charles K. MacArthur Taylor! Divide and Rule Syndromes’

These bloods sucking vampires who’s comes to power with ulterior motives in a very fragile environment such as Liberia with majority of her voting population so illiterate! The politicians in Liberia has succeeded to a greater extend in their carefully crafted plans which are working for them in every successes elections which Nimba continues to be victimize despite all she often put into all of the elections that brings almost all of the regimes to power!

Evidently, the reconditioning of feeder roads were visible at the time linking most of these vote rich districts especially in these neglected communities was seem in the past 2011 elections. The roads leading to the Zo-geh Bu-Yao district perfectly recondition which allow politicians at the time accesses to go in these forgotten areas to lied to these potential voters with either one of the sons or daughters in helping to convince, misinform voters who hail from these areas when the politicians at the time wanting public offices!

They (Politicians) brave the night dew during these ungodly hours to reach places such as Butuo, Dimplay etc in soliciting the peoples considered illiterate people votes and today these areas remained unattended to with information that they are part of Ivory Coast!

Today, these communities are no go areas due to the bad roads condition yet the people of Nimba has not learned their lessons but still parading with these blood sucking vampires with their ulterior motives with their massages of divide and rule to the detriments of the poor illiterate people of Nimba County who trusted their sons and daughters to represent their interests but failed to live up to expectations!

Sitting from my little corner and examining the politic of Nimba County, it has become so divisive to the extent that most of the sons and daughters of Nimba preferred giving their supports to non-Nimbanian because of the dislike, mistrust and natural bad blood they have created for each other that has today graduated to the various clans and chiefdoms of Nimba County!

My researched, has also revealed that some top Nimba permanent officials currently serving in government and the private sectors in most instances has no coordination’s or see each other eyes to eyes for reasons only known to God and the angel are the witnesses thus reducing the chances of citizens of that County coming out with an consensus candidate who will cut across the political landscape of the County!

Ironically, one can’t dictates the pace of the game and at the end become a mere spectators as the case of Nimba County with all of the sophistications especially in the human resource arena as evidenced by their presence in the working community in Liberia and abroad!

I refused, to buy into what is commonly said in the Liberian setting that “when a Nimba men dies is another Nimba men that killed him or her”! But common sense, again will puffer another argument indicating if this is not true why the cohesiveness that ought to characterize the activities amongst the Nimbanian especially from the upper echelon of Society is nonexistent?

I heard of late, from a permanent official within Government from Nimba County remarking that since his ascension into this particular office no officials of government and private sectors from Nimba County has ever taken time to visit his office for reasons he yet to understand! Very strange indeed, for a vote rich County with a rich human resource capacities when her kinsmen’s can’t support each other to reach to the top!

The question is will, this vote rich County again sit back and allow themselves to be taken for ride in her political sojourn when their fore fathers were proud of their fierce, war-like reputation who always refused to settle for little or nothing as has been the case from time in memorials leaving the County in destitution in term of development?
