It has come to light that the legal tussle between renowned Ghanaian business man and former Asante Kotoko boss Herbert Mensah - who filed a motion in a juvenile court in Accra to have a 'formal and structured access' to his two daughters - and Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, mother of the two girls only came to a crescendo and in public only after several private interventions by several highly placed persons in the Ghanaian society failed to produce positive results.
This is because Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, mother of Zanetor Rawlings will not back down.
This is according to Manhyia palace sources, which also tells this reporter that, early in 2015, Mr. Herbert Mensah asked the Ashanti king to intervene with the Rawlings family who have over one year period denied Mr. Herbert Mensah the right to see and spend time with his two daughters, Zethe Maia Mensah, 7 and Rhia Lyza Mensah, 4.
Nana Konadu Agyeman - Rawlings, former first lady of Ghana and mother of Zanetor Rawlings however disregarded the Otumfuor's admonition to stay out of the issues between the two parents. She remained adamant and insisted that her daughter and her two children will have nothing to do with Herbert Mensah.
The recalcitrance of Mrs. Rawlings angered the Asante King who decided to wash his hands off the matter.
Mr. Herbert Mensah filed a motion for access to the two children at the juvenile court in Accra on November 24 2015. A few days after, a certified copy of the court writ has gone viral on social media platforms with people pointing accusing fingers at different people for the leakage of the writ to the media.
For several years, there have been rumors and media reports in Ghana of a relationship between Mr. Herbert Mensah and Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, first daughter of former President Rawlings.
These latest happenings have now confirmed these rumors, except it now appears to be a relationship gone bad.
And this is coming just a week after Zanetor unseated hon. Nii Armah Ashietey as NDC parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle constituency in the greater Accra region for the 2016 general elections in Ghana.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings, has three children. Two of those children are born to Mr. Herbert Mensah whiles the other child is born to a white man.
Political watchers have suggested that these happenings could have far reaching negative implications for Zanetor’s chances of winning the Klottey Korle parliamentary seat in 2016 if not managed properly.
As it unfolds, it remains to be seen how far this family feud turned legal tussle will go, as both families remain silent over the social media buzz of their personal family issues.
