The Chairman of Nzema Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NCCI), Mr. Joseph Apor, has called on the need to revive businesses in Nzemaland in the western region.
He said a decade ago the whole of Nzema had a brand known to be “coconut” as every single Nzema was associated with it but now cocoanut business are fading out in Nzema land.
Mr. Joseph Apor Adjei disclosed these during the inauguration of Nzema chamber of commerce and industries dubbed “towards the growth and prosperity of Nzema land through commercial enterprise” at Nzema Karela hotel and resort, Benyin Jomoro in the Western Region on Saturday.
He added that the Nzema chamber of commerce and industries will lead the crusade to revamp the coconut industries by working with everybody who has the interest to restore to the people of Nzema, the once economic crop that provided them with livelihood support.
Mr. Joseph Apor further hinted that the vision of NCCI is to have a well-organized business community resulting in an operationally diversified and transformed economy, evident in employment opportunities, reduced poverty and improved livelihood in Nzema land.
In relation to this, District Manager of Nzema East National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Mr. Robert Edward Nkrumah who deputized on behalf of trade and industries minister. Hon. Ekow Spio- Garbrah said the trade ministry is of the view that the newly created Nzema Chamber Of Commerce and Industries will be the voice of businesses.
He added that the trade ministry will ensure that this voices is heard where it matters and necessary to protect the interest of business at the local and national levels.
