
Nyinahin (Ash), October 7, GNA - Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD), has counselled District Assemblies to create systems that would facilitate information flow of their performances to the citizenry to enable them make useful inputs to influence decision-making.
He said the top-down and bottom up information flow is what is needed to bridge the accountability gap, aid transparency and build trust whiles creating opportunities for citizens to take part in decisions affecting their own development.
The Minister was inaugurating a 54 newly-elected Assembly members of the Atwima-Mponua District Assembly at Nyinahin.
AlhajiDauda underscored the need for the Assembly to step up their revenue generation efforts not only to fund development projects but to meet recurrent expenditure and stop the over reliance of the district Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and other government grants.
He asked the Assembly to do more to solve sanitation challenges in the area and said protecting the health of the people is of prime concern to the government.
