GPRTU Members Happy Over Newly-Elected Executives

Scores of Ghana Private Road Transport Union(GPRTU) of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) members in Accra are excited over the election of newly-elected executive members into office, saying their worries are over.

They members were seen on Tuesday chanting names of the defeated old executives amidst singing,dancing and joy saying "away" whilst demonstrating their full support for the newly-executives by hailing their names as they embarked on a short march through some principal streets in Accra in an attempt to show off.

Ben Clottey, Chairman of Salaga Mamprobi taxi rank who spoke to Journalists after the group converged at the Nungua GPRTU office near Tema Station in Accra said "God has answered their prayers by allowing the union members to vote the old executive members out of office".

He said their worries of incessant complain about corruption on part of the old executives will soon be a thing of the past, adding they have so much confidence in the newly-elected executives to deliver to the satisfaction of the union members.

Isaac Ahuma Kubi, Teshie Nungua Branch Chairman of GPRTU says it will depend on the decision of the newly-elected executives whether to continue or discontinue the corruption cases leveled against the old executives which is still in court.

Ghana Private Road Union (GPRTU) of Trade Union Congress(TUC) has been rocked with so much confusion and agitation in recent times with majority of union members accusing the old executives of being corrupt.

They claim the Former National Chairman, Alhaji Yaw Manu has flaunted the constitution guiding the union, twisted it to his own benefit forgetting he must serve the interest of the union members who elected him eight years ago.

The embattled Alhaji Manu was also fingered by the union members for failing to pay his staff for close to five years.

They have therefore dragged him to court seeking to dismiss him from office before his tenure of office.

The controversial court case has since been pending in court until recently the union had its congress last wednesday to elect new executives into office.

It however turned out that the union members have voted out the entire old executives replacing them with a new crop of leaders to stem the affairs of the union successfully without any hitches.

3. Deputy General Secretary (administration)-George Ofori-Davis,

3. Deputy General Secretary (operations)-Alex Krah, the National 1st Trustee-Augustine Mensah and the

National 2nd Trustee-Nana Kwasi Kodua Akuoko II
