“Those responsible should be imprisoned for life with no food” — Friend of murdered phone dealer Dinero

A close friend of Nana Yaw Kyere, the popular mobile phone dealer known as Terry or Dinero at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, has expressed deep anger and grief following the trader’s death, calling for those responsible to face life imprisonment.

The friend, speaking amid the ongoing police investigation, said the people responsible for Kyere’s death deserve severe punishment after allegedly luring him to Teshie and taking his life.

“Those responsible should be imprisoned for life with no food,” the friend said, as he mourned the death of the phone dealer and demanded justice for his colleague.

Kyere reportedly travelled to Teshie on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in connection with what was initially described as a business transaction. Before communication with him was lost, he reportedly sent a WhatsApp message to a close friend indicating that he had been “set up” and shared his location. The message and location were later deleted from the conversation.

His disappearance immediately raised concerns among his family, friends and fellow traders at Circle. Attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful, while his Honda Civic, which he had reportedly used for the trip, also went missing.

After several days of searching, Kyere’s body was reportedly discovered in Teshie on Thursday, September 24. A family member confirmed the discovery, while reports indicated that there were signs of an unsuccessful attempt to burn the body. His remains were subsequently taken to the morgue as investigations continued.

Further reports have emerged about the circumstances surrounding the discovery. According to YEN.com.gh, a suspect identified as Phil reportedly led investigators to the location where Kyere’s body had allegedly been buried near the sea in Teshie. The report also alleged that an attempt had been made to burn the body before it was buried. These details remain part of the ongoing investigation and have not all been independently confirmed by the police.

Police have reportedly arrested suspects in connection with the case, including a man identified in media reports as Phil and a woman allegedly linked to Kyere’s disappearance. Reports about the number of people arrested have varied as the investigation has progressed.

There have also been reports that one of the suspects allegedly confessed during police questioning. However, the alleged confession has been reported through a close friend and media accounts and should not be treated as an established fact until confirmed by investigators or tested through the judicial process.

Kyere’s death has shocked colleagues and friends within the Circle phone-trading community, particularly because his final known journey began as what appeared to be an ordinary meeting connected to a business or personal arrangement.
