Accra, Oct. 7, GNA - Parliament on Thursday failed to adopt a report of the Appointments Committee on the nominations of three persons as Supreme Court Judges due to lack of quorum.
Mr Joe Gidiso, Member for North Tongu, had raised the question of quorum during debate on the Report.
Mr Ken Dzirassah, Second Deputy Speaker, who presided, ruled that voting for the adoption of the Report could not be done for the lack of numbers.
Mr Atta Agyapong, Vice Chairman of the Appointments Committee, had told the House that the nominees demonstrated confidence and good knowledge of the law and topical national matters.
He said they were forthright in their answers to questions put to them, "based on these findings, therefore, the Committee recommends the three nominees, by consensus, for approval by the House".
Members said the there nominees had fine and well cut character to pursue their professional goals at the Supreme Court.
The three nominees are Mr Justice Felix Michael Lartey, Mr Justice Julius Ansah and Mr Justice Richard Twum Aninakwah, all Appeal Court Judges.
