From Mere School Mates To A Couple: The Intriguing Tale Of Dominic And Roselyn
23.07.2015 LISTEN

Love can be swift for some but for others it comes slowly and such is the tale of Dominic Pakow Gyeyin alias Pinto and Roselyn Sefakor Tettey.

They first met each other at the T-Poly campus in 2004 as school mates, as Ebenzer Aidoo would recall “they were not even friends o” upon hearing that the two had gotten married. Mr. Aidoo was a mate of my good self and Pinto as we all attended Swedru School of Business in 2001 but he moved a step closer in again schooling with Pinto at the Takoradi Polytechnic where he met Roselyn as well.

As I got to know later, the two really had nothing going on. By providence or chance Pinto and Roselyn crossed paths again at the Pentecost University College and even here in the beginning it was just friendship but it was nearing the completion of the course that events started unfolding.

Life can be tough and Dominic wasn’t spared some tough times especially as we got to know he though being a Fante grew up in Ashiaman. However if there was anything unique about him even while we were just young men undertaking our second cycle education, it was that Dominic was a smart and hard worker, one sniffing for opportunities and deservedly working at it.

Being a consummate sportsman, Dominic undertook the 100 m, 200 m and the relay races not sparing his footballing skills. His sporting skills were evident enabling him to be selected to represent the school in zonal and district competitions.

After the T-Poly era, securing a job in our Ghana was tough yet Dominic purposed that he needed to secure a degree and against all odds he achieved that dream with a top-up course at Pentecost University College.

Eventually he secured a job as an administrative officer for a nursing school at Nyamekye and by putting in copious amount of efficient work he’s been made a principal.

Realizing that acting prudently was of essence, Dominic asked himself what he desired in a woman/wife and in answering he valued a woman who revered God, was decorous, industrious and loved him unequivocally.

Observing keenly, he found those qualities in Roselyn Sefakor Tettey and never one to miss a brilliant opportunity, he set himself the task of wooing Roselyn to draw her mind to him.

Aside being a principal of a nursing college, Dominic engages as his side job, undertaking project work or writing thesis for tertiary students who lack the time or find thesis writing really difficult for a fee. It was this gift which came in handy for Dominic, for he assisted Roselyn in executing assignments and when the time came for Roselyn to write her thesis, who better than Master Dominic to show some love.

His care endured him to Roselyn who being the daughter of a Ga father and Ewe mother spotted the treasure in Fante land’s own Dominic Gyeyin.

And so on the 17th of July 2015 Dominic Pakow Gyeyin in the company of his father Agya Amponsah and mother Victoria Cobbina as well as other relations and friends sought the hand of Roselyn Sefakor Tettey from father Mr. Akweitey and mum Agartha Amekudzi at their residence at Abelenkpe whereupon Roselyn’s relations and friends warmly received Mr. Gyeyin and company.

All went well as custom was observed aided by music and great commentary offered by okyeame Sweet 16 who represented the bride and okyeame Michael Eli Dokosi who represented the groom.

Upon conclusion of Friday’s event, the wedding continued on Saturday at the New Covenant Baptist Church, Abelenkpe. Rev Chris Tekpo took charge of the service indicating that despite global divorce rate being high he was certain that Mr. and Mrs. Gyeyin would love and resolve and any conflict in their marriage before it exacerbates stressing that the register of the church he shepherds has an enviable record such that no marriage he’s blessed has as yet ended in divorce.

The 2003 Busy Bees came in full force to show their love from Peter Asiedu Morriel, Emmanuel Ackon, Daniel Aggrey, Offei Akoto, Michael Amoah, Philip Sabah, Francis Abban, Noel Doku, Nicholas Ollando, Michael Takyi, Matthew Nino Brown, Fredrick Annan to Michael Eli Dokosi. The joy of having one of us become elevated to manhood was gratifying.

Life can be humorous, to think that two folks could meet in 2004 without incident, only to meet again in 2009 to firm feelings and eventually marry in July of 2015 begets belief but such is the intriguing tale of Mr. and Mrs. Gyeyin. May Mawu Sogbolisa and the ancestors be your guide.
