The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman in connection with the killing of two people at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Accra, and announced a GH¢100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the alleged gunman.
The suspect, Beatrice Mumuni, is accused of accompanying the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, to the residence of the victims, George Atuguba, 57, and his niece, Irene Atuguba, 47, before they were shot dead on Friday, October 30, 2026.
The police have declared Osei Anto wanted and are appealing to the public to provide information that could lead to his arrest.
In a statement issued on Saturday, October 31, 2026, the Police Service urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or call the emergency numbers 191 or 18555.
According to an earlier statement dated October 30 and signed by the Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, officers from the Sakumono District Police Command were dispatched to a residence at NTHC Estate after receiving information about the shooting.
Upon arrival, the officers found George Atuguba and his niece lying in pools of blood.
The victims were rushed to a hospital, where a medical officer pronounced them dead. Their bodies were subsequently deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The Baatsona Divisional Police Command is leading investigations into the incident.
Financial dispute suspected
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the killings may have been triggered by a financial disagreement between Osei Anto and George Atuguba.
Police say the deceased allegedly owed the principal suspect GH¢500,000, which he had borrowed but failed to repay.
Osei Anto is reported to have visited the victims' residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Mumuni, to demand repayment of the money.
A confrontation allegedly broke out during the visit, resulting in Osei Anto reportedly shooting and killing the two relatives.
