
Accra, June 22, GNA - Holy Child School, Cape Coast, and Holy Child College, Takoradi, would be celebrating their joint 70th anniversary in March, 2016, on the theme: '70 Years of Excellence in Catholic Girl-Child Education.'
The anniversary would kick off with an official launch and fundraising event at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, June 30 from 3pm - 6pm, to raise GH₵ 5 million to meet the needs of the two academic institutions.
Highlights of the event include, launching, unveiling of the 70th anniversary logo; fundraising; networking, dinner, and dancing.
The launch would be attended by students and management of Holy Child School and College, HOPSANS, APSUNIANS, parents, and friends of the School and College.
Founded and started on March 5, 1946, the first three sisters from the Society of the Holy Child Jesus; Reverend Mother Mary Joachim, Rev Mother Mary Cyril and Rev Mother Mary St Edward, landed in Takoradi on February 20, 1946 and steered the affairs of the new Catholic institutions for girls.
The initial negotiations included not only the secondary school but also a fully-fledged teachers training college to be taken over from the Sisters of Our Lady of the Apostles. These initiatives marked the beginning of the two Holy Child institutions.
