Patterson wins Vlisco Ambassador 2015

Accra, April 13, GNA - The Dutch Wax Brand, Vlisco has named Mrs Elizabeth Akua-Nyarko Patterson, Founder and Executive Director of the Girls Education Initiative of Ghana as the 2015 Vlisco Ambassador.

The Awards honours the outstanding achievements of West and Central African women by identifying and rewarding those who inspire others to realise their dreams.

Mrs Patterson said: 'It is a profound honour to be associated with the Vlisco brand and carry the torch from my predecessor, Eugenia Tachie-Menson.'

She expressed gratitude to everyone who voted for her, saying: 'I am incredibly honoured to fill the shoes of such great women.'

As part of her Educational Initiative, she provides academic and financial support to girls, with a special focus on students with special needs.

Ms Constance Mensah of fashion label EfuaStanzz was announced as the winner of the Fashion Fund programme.

The programme serves as a platform for young and talented up-and coming-designers to showcase their creative abilities and compete for prizes designed to support them in living their dreams as a fashion designers.

The award ceremony and fashion show culminated Vlisco's month-long celebration of women which was designed to coincide with International Women's Day.
