Mahama commissions new ambassadors; Sinare heads to Saudi

President John Mahama has commissioned two new Ghanaian ambassadors to head the country's missions abroad.

The two have been tasked to attract more investments to the country and strengthen bilateral ties between Ghana and their new countries.

The ceremony was held at the flagstaff house on Friday. 

Alhaji Saeed Sinare will be heading Ghana's mission in Saudi Arabia while Sylvester Parker-Alottey will be heading to Japan.

He replaces the embattled Edmund Kofi Agbenutse Deh who was accused of operating an illegal casino in the Japanese capital.

President John Mahama stressed the need for him to work at restoring the diplomatic ties between Ghana and Japan which may have been strained by the scandal.

The president also charged the Saudi Arabian Ambassador designate to take advantage of the various development funds available in the gulf, for use by Ghana and other countries on the continent.

 Alhaji Sinare in his remarks pledged their resolve to perform beyond the expectation of the president.

"At the end of day we are going to make sure you will be proud of us with the work that we are going to do for mother Ghana. And I can promise you that we are not going to put you to shame. We are going to lift high the flag of Ghana," Sinare assured.

Alhaji Sinare seized the opportunity to introduce his mother to the president. His mother was among the first Egyptians to settle in Ghana, including  Fathia Nkrumah,  wife of Ghana's first President .
