As part of their corporate social responsibility, Innova DDB Ghana, an advertising agency has donated food items and an unspecified amount of money to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital on Friday.
The items include bags of rice, medical supplies, sugar, soaps and cooking oil, toiletries and a 200 liter polytank by Duraplast.
Head of CSR at Innova DDB Ghana, Olivia Cudjoe said the donation forms part of their commitment to support mental health delivery in the country.
“Innova DDB Ghana is a company that believes in giving back to society and supporting the less fortunate” he added.
Olivia Cudjoe described as worrying how the citizenry shy away from people deemed mentally derailed in the society.
“The company believes that mental health conditions are not for the less privileged, misfits or under-achievers but every other person stands the risk of being a victim” she stated.
Receiving the items, Principal Nursing Officer at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Beatrice Nyarko commended the management and staff of Innova DDB for the donation and
She called on other corporate institutions to emulate Innova's example, especially in the area of volunteerism.
After the presentation, the management and staff of Innova DDB Ghana were schooled on mental health and later taken on a facility tour to know the realities on the ground.
Dumbfounded by what they saw at the facility, the staffs pledge to share the information acquired with the public.
