Murder Most Gruesome

The murder of the UK Chairman of the CPP by a yet-to-be-apprehended armed robber presents us with yet another security enigma. how we wish its bottom would be reached within the shortest time possible!

In a country where members of the public rarely provide necessary information needed to decrypt security enigmas such as this, we can only hope and pray for a breakthrough.

The subject under review ties in with the proliferation of illicit small arms in the country - an anomaly which demands the support of all to fight because of the havoc it is visiting on families.

It is interesting how AK 47s are on the verge of outnumbering locally manufactured firearms in the country, especially in places where such gadgets were not in vogue a few years ago.

When masked men descend upon innocent citizens and visit on them rape and murder, the battle against AK 47s in our opinion, should involve all so that the fight against men of the underworld can be sustained.

We should therefore as citizens, be supportive of the police any time they undertake what would seem like inconveniencing us when they stop us at night to undertake their snap checks on our vehicles.

There have been many instances of motorists not cooperating with such security personnel, making it look like such persons do not understand the importance of such duties, let alone offer the necessary cooperation to the security agents on such operations.

The murder of the CPP-UK Chairman and senior architect, who was on a visit to Ghana from his base in Britain, is one of the most heartbreaking things to happen to a family.

It can only be imagined how his families – both in the UK and at home – would take the news of their beloved one dying at the hands of a useless good- for-nothing killer in Accra.

When armed robbers rape and murder their victims, we are constrained to want to find out their state of mind at the time that they visit such incomprehensible actions on innocent persons. It makes it even more intriguing when there appears to be no resistance from their captors.

We are tempted to think that such criminals are driven by the effects of hard drugs they ingest prior to embarking on the deadly missions.

Such heinous crimes are in their infantile stages in our country and spreading fast though. We are in a better position to fight the crime now than wait for it to wax stronger and get more complex than we are witnessing and almost impossible to subdue.

Raping and killing should be stopped now.
It is possible to reduce this shade of crime to the barest minimum if all of us as stakeholders decide that enough is enough and therefore join hands with the police in stemming it in the best way we can.

What has happened to Mr. B could happen to you or your neighbour. Let us not regard these crimes as bloody occurrences from Planet Mars.
