Reliable sources have confirmed how Godswill Akpabio and some key members of his administration have put plans in place to assassinate the Paramount Ruler of Etinan Local Government Area, Edidem Umoette, and Edidem Ime Udousoro Inyang of Ibiono.
Sources say at a meeting held recently at the residence of Senator Ibok Essien, in which Mr. Nse Ntuen and Emmanuel Enoidem attended, Akpabio complained bitterly about the two elders as the ones who are leading Ibibio groups to oppose his choice of Udom Emmanuel as his successor.
At the meeting, as confirmed by a reliable spource, a discussion was held on how Edidem Umoette, Ime Udousoro Inyang, and others considered by Akpabio as agents working against his choice of a successor, could be eliminated. It is not clear if Mr. Udom Emmanuel attended the meeting.
This writer has made a telephone contact with Edidem Umoette, who confirmed that he, too, has heard the story.
It could be recalled that during the 2010-2011 governorship election, Akpabio did not like the idea that the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium, Edidem James Robert Obot, did not support his second-term ambition. Before the end of the election, he was assassinated.
It could also be recalled that just few months ago, Chief Albert Ukpanah was assassinated in cold blood; an assassination which many believe might not be unconnected with the political Senate ambition of Godswill Akpabio to represent Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Please stay tuned for developing story.
