To take away teachers allowance is another failed policy of the current government. Because it lacks credibility and financial intelligence to deliver all the promises of better Ghana agenda, and as usual government embarks on frivolous formulation of policies and taken action that has no meaningful and realistic road map to solve any issue related to teachers allowance.
Therefore if the government is trust worthy there is need to be afraid to tell Ghanaians the true state of affairs in financing teacher's trainee allowance scheme. The government can build upon her goodwill if she has any to appeal to Ghanaians to help in contributing voluntarily ghc1 a month to cover the shortfall in the budget.
And if my calculation is right 24million Ghanaians can provide the government of Ghana ghc24million to finance a budget of ghc15million according to deputy minister for tertiary education having a discussion on talking point (Sunday, 2nd feb.2014).
Within the same vision, Ghanaians can honor all government projects requiring future direct foreign investment or loans. For example, the Kwame Nkrumah proposed reconstruction loan from the World Bank ($74million) is a policy that lack financial intelligence but can also be financed by citizens of Ghana through monthly voluntary contribution of 1ghc for 6months.
The population of Ghana is currently 24million therefore; ghc24m multiply by 6months is ghc144million which is $74million. If this proposal is package and publicize well using corporations, celebrities, schools, universities, and media houses, Ghana can generate ghc288million every year to finance every realistic project in Ghana's constituencies.
Though my priorities for the money will be different, that is I will divert that huge money into creating an industry that will use our raw materials to produce items for domestic and sub-regional economies.
