Accra, Aug 23, GNA - The La Mansaamo Kpee (La Town Development Association) on Thursday inaugurated new committee members to serve on committees of the development oriented association.
The Committees included Investment and Finance, Operations and Management, Projects and Programmes, Education and Scholarship, Health, Sanitation and Hospital and Welfare and Public Relations.
Some distinguished personalities were also appointed to serve on various boards such as the KG/PREP and JHS Board, LATENU Board and Hospital/ La Maternal and Child Welfare.
Mr Amarkai Amarteifio, Chairman of the Association, said after its establishment about 33 years ago the association had, through the spirit of self-help, promoted socio-economic development in the area and some of its completed projects are schools, clinics and bank.
He said the constitution of the Association had been reviewed for it to become more efficient and to be governed by modern administrative and economic concepts.
He said it had always been the policy of the association to remain non-partisan, non sectarian and non-gender biased, assuring that it would stick to that policy.
Mr Amarteifio expressed the hope that members of the committee would be able to surmount challenges and to help promote development in La, adding that the association would co-operate with the Municipal Assembly and not to compete with it.
Mr Joseph Sowa Okpoti, Chairman of Operations and Management Committee, who spoke on behalf of the newly constituted committee members promised to fulfill the aims and objectives of the association and also act as a role model to the youth.
He, therefore, called on the youth to support the association to help bring development to the area.
