Defected Ghana Long Jumper Ignitious Gaisah is backing athlete Janet Amponsah to win a medal at the upcoming IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
Janet Amponsah will be Ghana's only athlete to participate in this year's games after qualifying as a wild card.
The young athlete will compete in the women 200 meters event and Gaisah, a former World Indoor Championships gold medalist, believes Amponsah can make a huge impact despite her relative inexperience.
"I will advice her to keep focus and take the race one at a time and she doesn't have to feel lonely because I'm going to be there, I know her from Kumasi and we have trained together on many occasions,” said Gaisah in an interview with Joy sports
"Even though she is the only athlete going for Ghana, she should know that all Ghanaians are behind her and should not feel lonely."
The 2013 IAAF World Championships will run from August 10-18.
