A farewell parade was held in honour of the outgoing Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Major-General Carl Modey, last Friday.
Major-General Carl Modey has been nominated as an ambassador by President John Dramani Mahama.
A Deputy Commissioner of CEPS, Mr Isaac Apronti, will act as Commissioner of CEPS from today.
Outlining the achievements of Major-General Modey, Mr Apronti said in 2011 and 2012 for instance, the CEPS performed over the target set by the Ministry of Finance under his tenure.
As part of the measures to improve on the operational efficiency of the clearance process, Major-General Modey introduced the paperless clearance procedure currently being piloted at the Takoradi Port.
Mr Apronti named Major General Modey's other achievements to include the establishment of the customs police, rapid deployment team and the joint revenue surveillance team.
In his address, Major-General Modey urged the staff to maintain the integrity of the division.
He stressed the need for the division to be adequately resourced to help it overcome its challenges.
