Winneba, Dec. 31, GNA - The GETFund has released 15.6 billion cedis between January and December, 2003 for renovation of existing facilities of the University of Education, Winneba.
Some of the renovated facilities were lecture halls and bungalows. The Chairman of the Finance Committee of the FUND, Professor Wilson Tei said this on Wednesday when presented five Toyota Double Cabin Pick-ups valued at 106,000 dollars to the University at ceremony in Winneba.
According to Professor Tei, the vehicles were made up of four 4x4 Pick-ups valued at 88,000 dollars and one- 2x4, valued at 18,000 dollars.
He explained that the distribution of vehicles topped the list of GETFund's programme in 2003, because of the vital role vehicles play in the running of institutions.
Prof. Samuel Tetteh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, who received the keys of the vehicles, thanked the members of the Fund for their kind gesture and hoped that it would help in the running of the University.
He gave the assurance that the University would take good care of the vehicles to prolong their life span.
