Why NDC won and NPP lost: My Take

Feature Article Why NDC won and NPP lost: My Take
THU, 20 DEC 2012

When reality hits it hits hard that's why NPP is finding it very difficult to recover and come to terms with their loss of the elections. The fact is after careful analysis of the whole game I believe NDC won the elections hands down. Below is a summary of some observations I made and its region related.

1. Volta loyalty
The Volta region has been loyal to NDC and it was obvious they were never going to turn their back on John Mahama and their beloved party.

2. Northern Tribalism (Upper East and West)
Anyone who refused to see tribalism play a role in this election's was just playing the ostrich. The northern region had a choice to make between the vice presidency and the presidency. They had no choice than to vote for the presidency.

3. Central and Western Regions
After the demise of the former president Atta Mills the Central and Western Region were once again given the opportunity of the position of a vice presidency and I knew they were not going to go contrary to that opportunity.

4. Eastern, Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra regions
These regions have always been divided for reasons I can't explain so i knew it was going to be split decisions there.

5. Ashanti
With this trend the over reliance on Ashanti region alone was not going to work for NPP and to add injury to sore Alan Kyerenmanteng failed them completely because I never saw him on any of their platforms till the last day making me believe that some voters from Ashanti decided to vote against their own party unless you are able to convince me otherwise cause I see no reason how NDC could get almost 30% in Ashanti region.

The parliamentary candidate's NDC presented had more recourses and were more visible than the NPP candidates for instance victor smith was an ambassador, Ofosu Ampofu was in charge of local government, Kempes was in charge of TMA etc so even if they lost those seats they were able to close the gab which was of immense benefit to the presidential candidate and since they are still in power they will continue to enjoy political appointments.

NDC was sharing cars, laptops, dryers, camera's, monies etc whiles NPP was talking, talking, talking.

As for the NPP the campaign platforms insults were uncalled for, for instance if I come from the Volta region and you tell me you were going to dig Woyome's bones who is my country man and jail him even if he is dead do you think I will vote for your party?

If you say Ashanties should take cutlasses and butcher GAs and EWEs do you think they would vote for your party?

If you say you would jail current ministers for chopping monies when you come to power whiles you also chopped the monies some just 4 years ago do you think they and their families would vote for your party to come and jail them?

I believe strongly that those insulting altrancies overshadowed the issues of free SHS and the rest.

In conclusion I think Ghanaians have endorsed corruption by voting the NDC back to power. Don't ask me why cause after all these issues of corruption from their own founding father JJ and their own attorney general yet stiiiiiiiiiiiiilllll Gh voted for JM and NDC then we all must start looking for where the monies are and chop some cause the ultimate judgement for politicians have been thrown to the dogs.
