First Lady Opens Ghana Consulate in Toronto

......as Nana Opoku Boahene is confirmed as New Consul General Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs. Theresa Kufour on Saturday October 18 officially opened a new Ghana Consulate in Toronto, Ontario, Canada’s largest city. After so many months of confusion and disputes within the Ghanaian Community in Toronto, Nana Opoku Boahene, former Asantefuo Chief of Toronto was confirmed as the new fully-paid Consul General for the office which will now operate as a full Consulate General. The new Consulate which, according to its new Head, will start full operation in two weeks is located at 7777 Keele Street in the north-end suburb of Toronto (Concord) some 50 kilometers from downtown Toronto. Nana Opoku Boahene will be assisted by Ms. Augustina Ntim who was posted from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Toronto to serve as the Consulate’s Secretary. In attendance for the opening ceremonies was the full staff from the Ghana High Commission in Ottawa, His Excellency Samuel A. Odoi Sykes, High Commissioner, Eric Odoi Anim, Head of Chancellery, Charles Agyei Amoamah, Deputy High Commissioner, Doris Brese, First Secretary, Consular Section, Edward Quansah, First Secretary, and Theresa Phillips, Second Secretary.
