
Takoradi, July 16, GNA - The Ghana Cement Works (GHACEM) Limited, produced 2. 55 million tonnes of cement in 2011, Mr. Morten Gade, Managing Director of the Company, said on Monday.
Mr Gade was speaking at the 2011 Workers Performance Apprasial Awards Ceremony of the company at Takoradi.
He said the Tema factory produced 1.3 million tonnes of cement out of the figure while the Takoradi factory produced the remaining 1.25 million tonnes of cement.
He said the company recorded national market growth rate of 22 per cent over that of 2010.
Mr Gade said this is an unprecedented achievement and shows that the economy was improving.
He said the company would commission additional mill capable of production one million tonnes of cement at the Tema Factory in November this year.
Mr Gade said a mill of the same capacity would be constructed at the Takoradi Factory in 2013.
Mr Slyvester Okyere Amoah was adjudged the overall best worker, Mr Nelson Agyeman, the first runner up and Mr Joseph Kofi Mensah, the second runner up.
They were presented with plaques and cash prizes.
