A US$30m five-star hotel has been constructed in the port city of Takoradi. It is hoped that the hotel will create some 260 jobs.
The facility is expected to ease the burden of businessmen and holiday makers for a place to transact business and relax after a hard day's work.
Formerly the Royal Atlantic Hotel, the facility is strategically located in the heart of the city and offers a glamorous picturesque view of the Gulf of Guinea.
It is also opposite the city's turf club and close to the business and financial center of the ancient port city. The facility enjoys a privileged location in the Harbour Area, one of the most prestigious residential areas in the city, and has easy access to most of the main tourist attractions in the region.
The maritime center, Takoradi Harbour, the market circle and the local airport are all a short distance from the hotel.
The facility has 201 keys including two presidential suites, three pent houses and chalets to provide luxury and comfort to its clientele.
It also has a helicopter landing base with glistering interior design with a touch of Ghanaian heritage. The new hotel will be opened to the general public on September, 2012. The facility is known as Best Western Atlantic Hotel.
Patrick Fares, the owner of the facility, told a delegation made up of Parliamentarians, some personnel from the Ministry of Tourism, a select staff from the country's legislature and some members of the Parliamentary Press Corps that the new facility will maintain its brand name and also protect the rich culture of the ancient port city.
He told leader of the delegation, Ms Sena Dansua, the Minister of Tourism and Member of Parliament for North Dayi that his outfit was in the process of acquiring an aviation license for the helicopter landing base and expressed the belief that the facility would boost the local economy upon completion.
