Abesim (B/A), Jan. 24, GNA – The Sunyani Diocese of the Methodist Church is to construct a multi-purpose youth training Centre to provide employable skills for the youth of the church.
Construction work on the centre, which will offer the youth the opportunity to engage in bakery and sachet water production, is expected to commence in March this year.
On completion the centre will have a guest house, conference hall and a residential facility for the diocesan youth organiser.
Right Reverend Kofi Asare-Bediako, Methodist Bishop of Sunyani, announced this at the joint induction service of the Sunyani circuit and diocesan Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF), at the Good Shepherd Methodist church at Abesim, at the weekend.
The newly inducted MYF officers were Mr Emmanuel Munufie, Chairman of Sunyani circuit and Mr Joel Afrifa Kyei, diocesan Chairman. They will serve for a non-renewable three year term.
Rt. Rev. Asare-Bediako explained the current economic hardships demanded for the church to roll-out strategies to equip the youth with employable skills to become financially independent.
He called on members of the fellowship and the church in general to contribute both in cash and in kind towards the completion of the project, which would create hands-on training and employment avenues for the youth and other members of the church.
The Methodist Bishop advised the youth to study the Bible, pray at all times and to pay their tithes regularly to obtain God's blessings.
Rt. Rev. Asare-Bediako warned members of the church “against false doctrines and teaching, which are misleading and not Biblical.”
“It is common nowadays to hear some Christians or men of God praying to kill their adversaries, this kind of prayer conflicts with the teachings of the Bible”.
“God did not call us to pray with the aim of killing our enemies but rather to bless them”, Rt. Rev. Asare-Bediako stated and recounted that “Christians are expected to pray for their enemies at all times and do good to them”.
