Jinijini (B/A) Dec. 28, GNA – Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has appealed to the youth to take their education seriously so they would achieve their goals and aspirations in life.
He was addressing a durbar to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of Jinijini Senior High School in Berekum Municipality.
Mr Nyamekye Marfo urged students of the school to be extra-diligent so they could take the mantle of national leadership in future with confidence.
He commended the school for chalking enviable laurels, noting that the institution “stood tall” above other schools, especially the community ones established around the same period as the school.
Mr. Stephen Lord Oppong, Berekum Municipal Chief Executive, said even though the school had made giant strides it needed to redouble efforts to maintain the standard.
Mr. Kwadwo Apraku-Tuffour, the Headmaster, said the school, with a population of 2,015 day and boarding students, presented 284 candidates for the 2010/2011 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and obtained 92.04 percent passes.
Master Henry Jephtah Oteng, senior prefect, expressed gratitude to past and current heads of the school “for taking systematic measures towards the transformation of the institution to its current status”.
Mr. J.H. Owusu-Acheampong, Member of the Council of State who presided, commended stakeholders of the school, including the parent-teacher association, staff members, traditional authorities and development partners for nurturing the school to be among the top Senior High Schools in the region.
