Amasaman (GAR), Dec. 24, GNA - The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General (Lt-Gen) Augustine Blay, on Friday said the Military High Command would always comfort ex-servicemen of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and provide them with their needs.
He said: “We will attend to their basic needs and make sure that they are comfortable in their retirement as possible,” he said.
Lt-Gen. Blay made the pledge at the presentation of assorted food items and drinks to 12 ex-servicemen, at the Legion Village at Amasaman.
Brigadier General Bobson Gbemieh Saagbul, Director General of Personnel, GAF, who made the pledge on behalf of the CDS, said after serving the nation with honour and dedication, it was appropriate to ensure that veterans were accorded their due.
He wished ex-service men well and expressed the hope that they would live longer to enjoy more assistance.
Group Captain Albert Jones-Mensah, Executive Director of Veterans Association of Ghana, said the Legion Village was established about 10 years ago, to cater for members who are without decent accommodation.
He said the Village provided each veteran with two-bedroom accommodation and basic utility services.
