FOR THE past two decades Ghana has been struggling with universal health care delivery. As a result, successive governments have been calling on private organizations to help meet the nation's health needs as well as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

In Ho, a new private hospital, has responded to this call by inaugurating a new modern facility to meet the health needs of people in the Volta region.

Royal Hospital which was established a year ago has facilities such as an out-patient and in-patient department, blood bank, pharmacy, laboratory and a variety of wards, including the children, maternity, private and accident wards.

Services rendered at Royal Hospital include, medical and surgical services, accident and emergency services, obstetrics and gynaecology, laboratory and radiology services, transfusion and administrative services among others.

A senior doctor at the hospital, Dr. Daniel Agbleh, who read a speech on behalf of the Administrator, Belinda Kalitsi, noted the facility has recorded no maternal deaths since its establishment, an achievement which coincides with its objective of 'meeting the growing needs of the people and assisting in reducing maternal and neo-natal mortality in the area.'

The hospital has a 20-bed capacity and serves clients in ho and its environs including referral cases from other districts in the region. More so, foreigners from Togo, Benin and Nigeria also visit the hospital for treatment due to the excellent services provided and the high level of professionalism exhibited by the staff.

'We have our mission to provide state-of the-art medical care, coupled with cost effective and best practices, to become the provider of choice for those seeking excellence and luxury in healthcare,' Dr. Agbley noted.

He announced that soon the hospital will be increasing its bed capacity to 60 and also fully equip the facility to increase services to clientele.

Deputy Minister of Health, Rojo Mettle Nunoo in a speech read on his behalf commended Royal Hospital for its foresight adding the hospital could not have come at a better time.

He said despite government's commitment to ensuring that Ghanaians everywhere get quality health care, the growing demand for universal and quality health care make it difficult could for government to reach that feat.

'As a result, government appreciates the positive response of private hospitals like Royal Hospital to partner it in the provision of quality health services to the people,' he added.

Volta Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Joseph Nuetey, also commended the hospital noting that it will immensely complement the efforts of existing health facilities in the region. He assured the hospital of his outfit's saying it would monitor activities of private health facilities regularly to ensure that they adhere to set standards in health care provision in the region.

The Volta Regional Minister, Joseph Amenowode urged management of the hospital to diversify into other specialist areas to make it a referral hospital across the country.

An aide to the President, Ludwig Hlordze who chaired the occasion urged the hospital to ensure apt client information management and customer care relations.

Also in attendance was the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, Sylvester Mensah and the Ho West MP, Emmanuel Korsi Bedzra.
