The regent of Savelugu, Sulemana Mahama says the NDC Government risks losing the 2012 election if it fails to find and prosecute the killers of Ya Na Yakubu Andani II and his elders.

Speaking during a courtesy call on him by former President Rawlings at the Gukpenaa's palace Saturday afternoon, Suleimana Mahama said the Andanis voted massively for the NDC because of its promise to ensure justice.

“Our aim of mobilizing, sacrificing to vote out the NPP government was to ensure that NDC will come to power and ensure that justice will prevail,” he said, adding, the ruling last Tuesday by the High Court which acquitted and discharged the 15 suspects came as a shock, a pain, that equaled the unfortunate murder of their late king.

He accused the government of not giving the necessary attention by conducting due diligence into the murder and expressed satisfaction with ex-president Rawlings' commitment to finding the killers.

He charged the government to work assiduously, even if it means inviting international investigators to assist in order to bring the perpetrators to book.

Former President Rawlings on his part reiterated the need for the killers to be found, saying there may not be peace in Dagbon unless those behind the killing of Ya Na Yakubu Andani II and his elders are found and prosecuted.

He described the outcome of the court ruling as embarrassing and blamed government for not heeding his advice to conduct further investigations into the heinous crime.

He appealed for calm and assured the people that justice will definitely be found.

Mr Rawlings who received massive welcome from the Andani youth in the area later inspected structures destroyed by angry members of the party after the court ruling was announced.
